Lonnie Dawkins studied fine arts at numerous schools including the Maryland Institute College of Art.

As a photographer most of my work is portraiture.  In almost all the pictures I take for myself there is a person in the image.  I am interested in how the person relates to another person, place, or thing.

Though I live in the Washington, DC metropolitan area I seldom take pictures of the buildings, monuments, or scenery unless I include a person.

Above you will see a picture of my visit to the great state of Alaska.  Those pictures have few people in them.  Those are probably the few peopleless photographs that I have but Alaska is so beautiful that in every direction that you look there is something breathtaking demanding to be photographed.  While I wish I had included more people Alaska is one of the few places the rule can be broken.  Click on the picture and you will be taken to a gallery of images from the trip.
